Bruce County’s Project Team provided an update on the Schedule ‘C’ Class EA study of the bridge to the Municipality of Brockton at the Tuesday, June 6, 2023 Council Meeting. It was highlighted that an important part of the Environmental Assessment for this project is to consider alternatives and hear feedback from residents, businesses, stakeholders, and municipal partners, which will be shared with Bruce County Council.

The Bruce County Rail Trail will be undergoing corridor and surface improvements from June 12 to June 30, 2023, between Bruce Road 40 and Mill Creek Trestle Bridge in Port Elgin (west of Sideroad 13/14). Work will include corridor widening and the application of aggregate material to improve trail accessibility. Trail access may be impeded, and temporary closures may be required at times.

While Friends groups have helped raise funds for remodels, new collections, shelving, furniture, programs and more, in these most recent years, they have been generously supporting the Bookmobile project. BCPL has received generous donations from Friends groups in Lion’s Head, Tobermory, and Chesley, with a combined total of $9,500.

Please take notice that bridge rehabilitation repair will be taking place this summer at Stephenson Bridge on Bruce Road 15 in Pinkerton, Ontario. Motorists can expect lane closures on the bridge, with traffic control measures in place starting June 12, 2023, and ending in August 2023.

Fire Chiefs across Bruce County have collectively declared a fire ban on all open-air burning, with the exception of campfires for cooking and warmth. This ban is in effect as of June 1, 2023 and will remain in effect until such time that it has been declared safe to lift.

Brant Tract trail users are advised that the Bluewater Athletic Association of the Bluewater District School Board will be hosting a mountain bike race event at the Brant Tract County Forest on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
