Safety First during Hunting Season in Bruce County

Trail users in Bruce County are reminded that long gun (rifle) season for deer hunting is Monday, November 6 to Sunday, November 12. Hunters and recreational users should take steps to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Everyone using County forests must ensure they are visible and must be aware that others may be nearby. 

Trail users in Bruce County are reminded that long gun (rifle) season for deer hunting is Monday, November 6 to Sunday, November 12. Hunters and recreational users should take steps to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Everyone using County forests must ensure they are visible and must be aware that others may be nearby. 

Trail Users should:

  • Avoid using trails at dawn and dusk, and anytime that visibility is limited.
  • Wear “hunter orange” (hat, vest, scarf, etc.). Put “hunter orange” on your pets as well. Avoid beige, brown, white, or green clothing. 
  • Keep pets on a leash.


Hunters should:

  • Avoid hunting along trails and in areas with active trail use.
  • Be aware that you may be sharing the forest with other hunters and trail users.
  • Hunters must never shoot unless they are absolutely sure of their target and what is beyond it.
  • Be familiar with rules and bylaws for hunting in County forests.
