2022 Budget Receives Committee Approval
The Corporate Services Committee has approved the 2022 budget in principle, including adjustments noted in the October 21, 2021 report, at a net increase of 4.80%, with any adjustments due to variances in estimated new tax base growth to be assigned to transfers to reserves for transit and/or roads and bridges infrastructure. The Corporate Services Committee has also approved that an Infrastructure Renewal Capital Levy be instituted starting in 2022 at a 1.50% increase to the County levy. This Infrastructure Renewal Capital Levy will be increased annually by an additional 1.50% and will be reviewed during each annual budget process. A by-law, establishing the levy and corresponding tax rates and tax ratios, will be prepared for Council adoption at an upcoming meeting. Development Charges Public Meeting
The Corporate Services Committee received a presentation on proposed Development Charges for Bruce County and heard comments from the public, as well as from the Township of Huron-Kinloss. Development Charges are a fee charged by a municipality for the recovery of growth costs. Growth costs are recovered to build new infrastructure supporting growth, pay down existing debt for past growth works, and avoid taxpayers paying for costs that serve growth. The intent is to establish a reasonable amount of Development Charges for currently identified growth pressures and to provide capacity for studies that will identify and quantify other current and future growth pressures. Interested persons may also express their comments in writing, addressed to the municipal Clerk at:
