Comprehensive Zoning By-law and Local Official Plan Review

The Comprehensive Zoning By-law text can be viewed below under 'Attachments'. It manages land use within the Municipality. It states how land can be used, standards for use and location and use of buildings and structures. The Zoning By-law implements the goals and policies outlined in the Official Plans. To determine the zone of a particular property, please have a street address or Municipal Tax Roll number handy and use the County's Interactive Mapping program by clicking on the 'Explore More' link below under Planning Maps for Northern Bruce Peninsula. The Municipality undertook a review of its Comprehensive Zoning By-law in 2017 in accordance with the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended. Open houses and/or public meetings were held on May 28, July 8, September 25, October 10 and December 2, 2017. On May 14, 2018, Council passed the following resolution: THAT Council defer consideration of passage of the draft Comprehensive Zoning By-law and Lion's Head, Ferndale and Tobermory Official Plans until 2019, at which point, Council will provide further direction to staff. < As such, all draft documentation has been removed.
Local and County Official Plans
The Local Official Plan text can be viewed below under 'Attachments'. It provides guidance in making decisions concerning future development and investment within Tobermory, Lion's Head and Ferndale while the Bruce County Official Plan regulates the remainder of the Municipality. A five year review of the Local Official Plan was undertaken in 2017 in accordance with the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended and in concert with the Comprehensive Zoning By-law review. On May 14, 2018, Council passed the following resolution: THAT Council defer consideration of passage of the draft Comprehensive Zoning By-law and Lion's Head, Ferndale and Tobermory Official Plans until 2019, at which point, Council will provide further direction to staff. As such, all draft documentation has been removed.
