After 43 years of public service, Bruce County’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Derrick Thomson, has officially announced his intention to retire. CAO Thomson’s retirement date is set for December 15, 2023.

Please take notice that road construction and storm sewer installation will be taking place this fall on Bruce Road 29, including bridge rehabilitation work on Isthmus Bay Road, north of Lion’s Head, Ontario. Motorists can expect road closures on Bruce Road 29 and Isthmus Bay Road, with traffic control measures in place starting October 11, 2023 and ending in late November 2023.

Please take notice that the Bruce County Administration Centre in Walkerton, the Lakeshore Hub in Port Elgin, the Peninsula Hub in Wiarton, and the Penetangore Hub in Kincardine will be closed from Saturday, October 7 to Monday, October 9 (Thanksgiving Long Weekend). Virtual customer service and in-person service will be available again on Tuesday, October 10 at 8:30 AM.

Over the next two years, the new Community Development Office will focus on projects like Housing Supply in Bruce County, Growth of the Clean Energy and Medical Isotope Sectors, the Deep Geological Repository in South Bruce, and Pre-Development of the New Nuclear Reactor at Bruce Power.
