Whether you are an individual, a start-up or an established small business or non-profit organization, there can be many challenges and barriers to bringing a new tourism idea, experience or partnership to fruition. 

​We want to help. The "Spark" Program will match selected candidates with a tourism mentor and provide a source of financial support to help take your great new tourism idea to the next level of development or implementation.

Tourism business development grants available through "Spark" Mentorship & Grants program

The "Spark" Program will match selected candidates with a tourism innovation mentor and provide a source of financial support to help take their great new tourism idea to the next level of development or implementation.

Who can apply?

  • Individuals 18+ who live, work or own property in Bruce County
  • Small businesses with 10 employees or less based in Bruce County
  • Non-profit organizations with 10 employees or less based in Bruce County

2020 Focus Area:

  • New sustainable tourism ideas for the Bruce Peninsula that will be based in and benefit Northern Bruce Peninsula and/or South Bruce Peninsula.

The “Spark” Program Application:

  • County-wide call out for applications from September 21-October 23, 2020
  • Application reviews by a jury including tourism leaders and innovators
  • Finalists' Pitch Session on November 24, 2020
  • Selection of 3 winning applicants from Bruce County

What are we looking for? New sustainable tourism ideas that:

  • Enhances our current tourism offerings
  • Creates high-quality, low impact tourism experiences
  • Addresses gaps in tourism products and services
  • Motivates longer stays and repeat visits
  • Disperses visitation geographically
  • Increases shoulder season visits and tourism spending

Selected applicants will receive:

  • 3-month tourism mentorship
  • $3,000 "Spark" grant to support tourism idea development activities
  • Access to a support network of tourism innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders

    Submission deadlines - Applications will be accepted from September 21 to October 23, 2020

    Visit www.tourisminnovation.ca/bruce and answer the 10 basic application questions (1,000 word limit for the application)

  •  

    Application reviews by a jury including tourism leaders and innovators

  •  

    Finalists’ Pitch Session on November 24, 2020
