The #1 sector within Bruce County is Tourism, open year round to tourists, there is always something on the go within the County. With Lake Huron to the West and Georgian Bay on the East, Bruce County is almost completely surrounded by water and has resulted in a number of gorgeous beaches. 264 km’s of the famous Bruce Trail runs through Bruce County’s backyard, moving along the Niagara Escarpment on the Bruce Peninsula. This portion of the trail boasts the most spectacular views and the most difficult portions of the entire trail. Bruce County has two national parks, three provincial parks and a handful of nature reserves that are all available to the public. With more than 400,000 visitors to the Bruce Peninsula National Park and Fathom Five National Marine Park in 2016 alone, we have many exciting opportunities for new entrepreneurs to start their business or existing businesses to expand.
Bruce County is dedicated to helping farms with agricultural enhancements, innovations and supports, and are developing a number of programs and projects that will help with value added production, agri-food processing and rural development. There are more than 1455 family run farms within the Interior Region alone and with a few thousand acres ready for agricultural uses and development, there is no shortage of opportunities to grow!
Nearly 1/3 of all of Ontario’s power is generated by the Bruce Power Nuclear Plant within Bruce County. We have set our focus on understanding and developing the potential for growth, innovation and development in the Energy field. The Nuclear Industry Investment Strategy will be concentrating on expanding the supplier network to support the long term needs of Bruce Power, enhance training and employment opportunities that align with the long term needs of the energy sector, as well as support and promote investment within the community.
