Bruce Road 6 East (Absalom St E), Meax Creek Bridge, & Fischer Bridge Rehabilitation Pre-Construction Information Session on May 9, 2024
In 2024, Bruce County will be proceeding with Bruce Road 6E (Absalom St E) Rehabilitation from George St to Kleist St, along with the rehabilitation of the Meax Creek Bridge on Bruce Road 6E and the Fischer Bridge on Bruce Road 6.
Residents are invited to attend Pre-Construction Information Session on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the Mildmay-Carrick Recreation Complex (24 Vincent Street, Mildmay, ON). This Information Session will take place from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM with brief presentations at 6:00 PM.
Kurtis Smith Excavating Inc. was the successful contractor and will be completing the construction work for Bruce Road 6E (Absalom St E) Rehabilitation from George St to Kleist St, VanDriel Excavating Inc. was the successful contractor and will be completing the construction work for the rehabilitation of the Meax Creek Bridge on Bruce Road 6E, and AJN Builders Inc. was the successful contractor and will be completing the construction work for the rehabilitation of the Fischer Bridge on Bruce Road 6E. B.M. Ross and Associates Limited (B.M. Ross) and BT Engineering Inc. (BTE) will administer the construction contract on behalf of Bruce County.
Construction Staging and Road Closures:
Bruce Road 6E (Absalom St E) Rehabilitation is tentatively scheduled for construction from May to October 2024. The work includes rehabilitation of storm and sanitary sewer, patching of sidewalk, rehabilitation of watermain, extension of concrete curb, and new asphalt paving. Adjacent residents will be notified in advance of impacts to their driveways. The rehabilitation of the Fischer Bridge will involve periods of full bridge closure and is tentatively scheduled for construction from July to September 2024. The rehabilitation of the Meax Creek Bridge will involve periods of full bridge closures and is tentatively scheduled for construction from May 15 to August 2024.
During construction, Bruce Road 6 East (Absalom St E) will maintain one lane of traffic. The Meax Creek and Fischer bridges will be closed to through traffic. Local access and emergency services to properties will be maintained at all times from one direction. Signage will be installed indicating alternative routes.
Additional Information:
The County, B.M. Ross, BTE, AJN Builders Inc and Kurtis Smith Excavating Inc. will provide updates as the rehabilitation projects progress. There will be a brief presentation at the Pre-Construction Meeting to provide an overview of the projects. There will also be a series of exhibits at the meeting showing the planned construction works.
