A Mountain of Propane Tanks to be Recycled

Help Preserve the Great Outdoors – Keep our Campgrounds Clean & Green

For anyone who has camped in one of Bruce County campgrounds, it is all too common to see mini green propane tanks or similar fuel canisters stacked beside garbage bins.

People know they are not waste, but are not sure how to dispose of these tanks. The concern with propane tanks showing up in garbage and recycling containers is that they may create a fire risk, and potential safety issues.

Propane tanks should never be placed in the garbage or the blue box for recycling.  All propane tanks are accepted at a Bruce County Hazardous Waste Collection Events, where they are properly collected, packaged, transported and recycled.

Propane tanks should be stored outside in an area where they are least likely to be damaged or subject to extreme temperatures.
